Product Description
The pictures show a 38 Plymouth and some of the work involved to straighten out the original front and back guards and then modify them to fit the hot rodded chassis.  In this instance I was looking to clean up the uggly lines of the original Plymouth guards and running boards as they are not neat. The Hot Rodded chassis [set up by others] has height and width issues that are two much to be correct by lowered springs. Chassis could not be altered as it was finished, engineered and powder coated, to correct the chassis you would have to nearly start again. So the guards and running boards were made 70mm lower so as the car doesn't look so high and made wider to cover wheels and tyres.  Hot Rods always look better when the wheel opening follows the tyres shape too, so it was a big untertaking to get it looking this good, trying to make them look factory and not hot rodded.

Plymouths had a swage line around the eges of the gaurds and I wanted to keep that originality to it. There are many ways to approach a job like this from a working of the metal perspective, these pics are just to show before, during and after pics and how much goes into it. In this case it made sense to make them on the body as I had repaired the guards to fit the body nicely before modifying them and did not want them to deviate. Each gaurd has a 6mm strenthening rod fully welded into and around its outer edge to prevent splits. There are guard support brackets that bolt back to the chassis too, to stop the fat fenders rattle.

The running boards are strong enought to jump on. I set them up to be covered in the usual step side rubber and have an outer painted piece to be painted the same colour as the body.

Good lines and a nice fat and round shape was the aim to making this 38 Plymouth look so sweet.  I love the front now I got a good shape and good lines across the front. I hope you think so too.

All metal work shape is finished using the splines technique. This ensures a good shape and flow to the metal work and means anyone using the splines technique to fill, sand and paint the car will have minimal product needed on the body and less sanding time required on it getting it ready for top coat.

This is not a product - It is an example of our fabrication skills.

Price is indicative per guard, it is a lot of work. All work is done at an hourly rate, plus parts, plus materials.
