Rod Shop IFS fitting service. In these pics I showcase the XM Falcon Delivery I did, however the work required for preparation and execution is same no mater what vehicle it is.  Rod Shop has a number of IFS untis made to suit a few different cars now, some with engine mounts fitted and they have rear transmission mounts and other matching components. So it is a no brainer to use a great IFS that is already developed for your car, if they don't have one to suit your car, and no one else makes one, I can custom make an IFS to suit any car or light pickup.  However be prepared for some considerable cost to do a one off custom IFS.

Rod Shop IFS fitted to a XM Ford Falcon Delivery by Kustom Bitz
I can fit any brand IFS kit - I have worked with a number of them now

There is alot of preparation, welding, measuring, cross referencing, and double checking when lining up and fitting an IFS kit.  There is alot a novice can stuff up and you really want to avoid stuffing shit up.  There is strengthening plates to be welded in and along the subframe and extra welding required on OEM subframe joints. I add extra plates at key stress points when I feel it necessary to take load off a weld.  Exceptional welding and fabrication techniques is what get its through engineering, it would not be smart to attempt if your welding is poor, and or, you are not good with a tape measure. It will cost you way more to repair a poor attempt than it would take to get it done by a skilled person in the first place.

You could expect it to cost from around $10,000 to $25,000 or more depending on how much you do in pre-preparing the car for us or if you need us to do the the lot.  To be clear this does not included the IFS kit itself or any other parts.

Note the paint needs to come off so I know it is a sound base to work on. It is imperitive that there is no rust in the subframe and firewall, otherwise you will be needing our subframe replacement service before the IFS gets fitted.

All work is done at our standard hourly rate + parts + materials

Fit a Rod Shop IFS to your Falcon rack n pinion steering

Ontop of the IFS install there is the steering links and steering column to be done and this should be sorted in conjunction with fitting the engine so that proper cleanrances can be adhered to for engineering compliance.  The brake master cylinder and vacuum booster should also be done at this time so that the mounting can be made strong enough to support the bottom of the steering column if necessary.  If you ignore doing them altogether then you may have to rework down the track to get stuff to fit.

Rod Shop IFS fitting service by Kustom Bitz Victoria Australia

The Rod Shop stuff is darn good in my opinion, they have done all the right testing in recent years to keep up with the high levels set by VicRoads and other Australian states these days.  The A arms are chomoly and the stub axles are forged wilwood, so wilwood brake combos fit right on.

NOTE: If you are buying an IFS kit make sure it has Australian produced testing documentation otherwise you could be in for a world of bother. If it does have documentation make sure your engineer is aware of it and is also happy to sign off on that particular brand of IFS.  Look if you don't thats ok, you may just have to pay twice, no biggey.
