Anti-Torque Bar for Drag Racing. Anti Roll Bar. Stops the car torquing over on hard acceleration. Evens out the cars weight on the left and right tyre so the car hooks up better. Usually improves the 60 foot times, due to better traction. With no sway bar the left rear is unloaded and it tends to spin, once it starts to spin the right rear will soon follow and the car steps out and snakes off the line, the car becomes inconsistent and unpredictable out of the hole.
Below pics shows the difference before fitting the sway bar and after fitting the sway bar. Note in the before pic how dramatic the rolling over is with this torquey big block engine upon accelration. Once fitted the car accelerated flat.
In this instance I used a Competition Engineering anti roll bar kit for the rear. They are a very well made kit, there is enough tube supplied to do any width car. If you are welding one of these kits yourself you need to understand you are welding chromoly tube, you need to know what you are doing.
Indicative costs is $1,500 to $2,500 or more plus the cost of the sway bar kit. I don't mind what kit you buy, I have used McDonald Bros Racing before and that works well too.

The cost is dependant on how easy or hard it is to get in and work on the chassis. I need to get a welding torch in and my head to be able to see the weld being laid down. In this example shown I made brackets to come off existing suspension bolts so there were no modifications needed to brake lines or fuel lines already installed. For street use it can be easily unbolted, as it will be too rigid for normal street use.
